I'd rather master three guns than own thirty I barely shoot. Jack of all trades, master of none applies here, so know your carry gun inside and out..know your hunting rifle's drops and drifts. Spreading yourself thin across a huge collection means you're mediocre with everything

I respect your restraint. I am a great admirer of firearm design and history, so quite a few have passed through my hands some of which I never shot but just took apart and studied. But your advice to master just two or three is full of wisdom as well.

Mastery beats quantity every time

And "a fool and his money are soon parted". Firearms are a commodity that can go up in value if well investigated. A portfolio must be diverse to cover the economic swings of the game-players. One only has to look at the crash of '08-09 in which commodities increase in value while Wall Street (and national banks to big to fail) took your money. My firearms have made my retirement comfortable.

PS. A Master can shoot anything.

I've never seen firearms be a great long tem investment. Example:

I bought a brand new Colt Python circa 1985 for $300 or so. If I had never fired it and kept in in pristene condition, today that weapon would be worth $2500 maybe 3K. Had I invested that same $300 at 7% it would have paid more.
