Need a license for hunting passion

I have discovered I have a new passion: hunting. Read some things about it, and it seems I need a lot so I can start. Still, it is not clear to me what I need to get a hunting license. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah, New Mexico is paperwork heavy.

First step is hunter education if you haven't got that yet.

Then you need a general hunting license and depending on what you're after, a tag for deer, elk, or turkey. You can buy small game licenses easier, but big game tags go through a draw system.

Don't get overwhelmed, just tackle it step by step. Start with the hunter education, then grab the small game license to get your feet wet before worrying about big game draws.
