Welcome Stewart!I have been into upland bird hunts and range days with a 12 gauge for years. I am excited to connect with other New Mexico outdoors people!
Great to be here, thanks! I mostly hunt quail around the southern plains and chase pheasants up north, with range time near Albuquerque when I canHello Stewart, and welcome to the New Mexico Sporting Forum. I am sure you will find members who also like to hunt upland birds here and shoot on ranges. What areas of New Mexico do you hunt upland birds, and what ranges do you use?
ThanksWelcome Stewart!
Down here around Roswell we have a great deal of doves so many, in fact, that they should be declared a nuisance, and quail although the prolonged drought has decreased the quail numbers noticeably...unfortunately not the doves. When I lived in the D.C. area I use to love to go after pheasants (with or without dogs). I use a 20 ga for upland birds & 5 stand/sporting clays. I am a member of the Del Norte Gun Club, and make 2-3 overnight trips a year up there to shoot sporting clays which, in my opinion, is the premier range/s in N.M; not only because of the facilities there, but because of the panoramic vista and terrain.I mostly hunt quail around the southern plains and chase pheasants up north, with range time near Albuquerque when I can
