Why do ticks seem to love my backyard?

I swear, every time I take my dog outside, I find ticks on him. Is there something specific in my yard that's attracting them? Any tips on how to make my yard less appealing to these little pests?

Ticks love shady, damp spots with tall grass or leaf litter, man. Trim the yard, keep brush cleared, and maybe treat the perimeter, that'll cut down their hangout zones big time

Good advice. When I lived where grass and yard were a thing, I kept it mowed and every spring I sprayed with some stuff that devestated the bugs. I'll see if I cna find the product. Usually sprayed again mid summer and if a wet one in the early fall. Never had any ticks in the yard. I ownder if wolfdogs have a natural immunity to them. I 10 years, some of it maving through woods and high grass I've only found 1 or 2 ticks. She can be a handful at times but I've come to love the old bitch.

Found it. Keep the yard cut and as dry as possible and spray with this stuff. No mas insectos.

That's good stuff, Howard. It's a synthetic version of a chemical found in the chrysanthemum.
Antother good more natural way of insect control is diatomaceous earth. Itsearth made from the microscopic shells of diatoms and mined, much of it form Colorado. The particles ate so tiny that whem bugs crawl through it the particles get into their systems and cut them to ribbons. Perfectly safe, some farmers and ranchers put it right into the sweetfeed. If you just sprinkle it around the house cricket and roaches will crawl through it.
