I've dabbled a bit with cap-and-ball revolvers, there's something satisfying about the whole old-school loading process. Never tried a replica like the Uberti Colt 1860, but it sounds like a blast from history
That Uberti Colt 1860 was a beauty. Those Eras Gone rounds are neat replicas and feel like holding history. You might find one on the collector circuit or at shows.
Forget the Uberti replicas for a minute, though, if you want reliable, consistent action, you gotta master cleaning out those cap flash holes and finding a good grease. It's a fun kind of shooting, but it'll teach you patience
I've since replaced that missing 1860 with another fluted model just like it. Cleaned it, lubed it and installed Slixshot nipples per Duelist54 on Youtube. Just haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, what all the remodel work on my torn-apart house. I've been shooting cap-and-ball revolvers since purchasing my first cheap brass-framed Navy back in 1970. It was imported by Hawes and cost me $49 new.
