Because of the vast amount of wide open space terrain in this part of NM I use a Nikon Travelite 12X. The measurements are roughly 4-1/2" Long x 3-1/2" Wide x 2" Thick which fit quite nicely in the pockets of cargo pants/shorts, and are very light weight. Resolution and light gathering qualities are very good & the focus knob is placed at the top between the 2 eye reticles which I find handy to use. They were advertised as "shock resistant", and so far they have proved to be just that.
