Go-to multi-use tool for survival

When building a survival setup, what's your must-have multi-use tool? I'm leaning toward a good multitool or hatchet, but I'd like to hear what you carry and why it earns a permanent spot

Gotta go with a full-tang fixed-blade knife, it's way tougher than a multitool for chopping or prying, and you can handle finer work with it to, its the best all-arounder, hands down

A quality fixed-blade knife is my number one. It handles batoning, food prep, shelter building, and fire starting. After that, a good multitool covers everything else. Both together give you maximum versatility without much weight

Yeah a solid fixed-blade is hard to beat for durability and versatility. I'd probably still pack a multitool as backup for specific tasks, but the knife definitely earns that primary spot in any kit

Right? Prices on gear have gotten wild lately, makes you wonder if you should sell or just hold onto it for even longer

I would also choose a relatively heavy fixed blade that can do light chopping -- plus a Leatherman.
