I know all the criticisms: admission too expensive, "he's dreaming" prices, too much AK junk, too many cheap fantasy swords from China, too many candles and too much crochet, etc. Still, I have enjoyed walking the aisles and looking for something that calls to me. The prohibition on private party sales without a background check has poured a lot of ice water on New Mexico gun shows and attendance. I used to go to the shows in Las Cruces (Lions Club), Alamogordo and Ruidoso (Labor Day). I see there were shows in Silver City and Deming a couple of years ago. Sometimes the small shows are the best.

Same here. Even if you don’t buy anything, it was still worth the walk just to see what turned up. The smaller shows always felt more personal too, like you might actually stumble onto a deal or something unique.

If yo want a real experience, try the Wanamaker show in Tulsa. Twice a year.
