Planning a trip to visit some family and trying to map out the best route. I'm thinking about bringing my firearm along, but navigating through New York State seems like a real hassle. Avoiding NY adds a whole bunch of drive time, so now I'm stuck weighing my options. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Maybe you found a route that worked or some tips on dealing with the regulations? I'm open to any suggestions that can make this easier.

You didnt specify your destinatin but pretty much anything north of Virginia is retarded. They watch for out of state plates. The western parts on NY and Pa arent as bad but dont get caught.

The general rule is that if you are legal in the state of origin, and the state you are destined, then you are legal to travel thru the other states to get there. You are pretty much legal having it in the compartment with you while in southern states, but lock it up in the trunk (separate from ammo) in liberal states. If you are a licensed CWC, then there is a whole list inwhich you can carry.

AVOID Maryland. Pure Nazi. Even if you have it locked up they're likely to confiscate your weapon just because they can. Then you go though trying to get it back which you wont.
