Anyone here knowledgable about USGI seal can ammo. My dad recently passed away and he had a large collection of all kinds of sealed ammo. Two of the rarest, which I can't find any info on, are a can of 3000 rds of .22LR, and a 1000 rd can of .38 super. Any info would be appreciated.

The 3000 rd .22LR sealed can is likely Lake City M192 military bulk from the 70s holds about 2500-3000 loose rounds. .38 Super 1000 rd can is rarer probably training ammo from the 80s check headstamps for dates. Both are collectible now value around 500-1000 depending on condition.

When I earned my marksmanship merit badge about 1967 in Tacoma, Washington, our instructor -- on the shooting team at Fort Lewis -- provided U.S. Army Remington 40X rifles and Winchester ammunition. Good memories.

I started match shooting in High School in '72, and then into college. We used the 40x. Finally got Anshutz half way thru college, and the scores increased. We also used white box Winchester, but it never came in sealed cans.
