When someone asks to try your expensive gun

There's always that moment of hesitation when someone wants to shoot your nice rifle or custom 1911. You want to be generous, but you're also calculating in your head whether they'll break it or shoot terribly and blame the gun. Usually I say yes but give a quick safety brief first. Most people are respectful but that one time someone wasn't taught me to be more selective.
 
I say yes, but internally I’m screaming “please don’t drop it, please don’t drop it.”
 
A rifle, no problem, I set it up on the tripod, tell them to work the action and the trigger dry fire a couple time (my target rifle is set at about .75 lbs) and enjoy.

a handgun is a bit more tricky and depends a lot on their level of experience. If theyre new to it one round at a time. If its a large caliber, maybe make sure its over a mat or grass.
