Didn't want to step on Brushline's inquiry. I recently bought a Tisas Tank Commander 1911 in 9mm to convert to .38 Super -- a cartridge that has long fascinated me and that I have never shot or owned.. I just received the barrel -- a regular five-incher from Rock Island Armory, and need it shortened to 4.25 inches, crowned and fitted -- and the trigger reduced from 7 1/2 to 4-ish pounds. Any recommendation for a competent pistolsmith in the south end of New Mexico?

I've had only excellent results and experiences with Curt Hardcastle. He frequents our shooting range and is situated in Silver. His website is Hardcastle custom machine. My buddy uses Al Story, though I hear he is retired and only does work for a select few.

That 1911 is currently in Curt's possession. I don't know if he will have a chance to work on it though, as his health is under severe challenge. He seems like a wonderful guy.
