I'm new to carrying and have been overwhelmed by the choices in 9mm ammo. What hollow points are you all using for self-defense that you feel are reliable in real situations?
I use Federal HST in 45 ACP but it alwas comes back to fundamentals rather than caliber or ammo type. Shot placement is critical. A .22 LR in the ear and its lights out. A 38 special in the heart and its pretty much over. As I heard it succintly put, "You cant miss fast enough to win a gunfight. Get out and practice." Frank Galli
For self-defense hollow-points, I have always preferred Federal's Hydra-Shok. HS's are offered in a range of different bullet weights, and are medium powder loads. Slower bullets reduces the possibility of over penetration which may result in collateral damage. The brass is nickel plated for repeated handling.
