I used the same ammo on two deer, one dropped instantly, other ran 100 yards. The shot placement was similar...well bullets are consistent but animals aren't. Does this happen to you?

Absolutely, ammo is predictable, animals aren’t. One moment it’s instant, next it’s a sprint lesson in stubbornness.

Same deal with Federal Fusion rounds. One deer dropped instantly and another somehow sprinted all the way into the next county even though the shots seemed almost identical.

I've had situations where I put what felt like the exact same lung shot on a whitetail and they reacted totally differently. One might drop immediately, while the next one would somehow manage to run clear into the next county before finally giving out. Animals are just so unpredictable that the outcomes never feel quite as precise or scientific as some people tend to make them out to be.

Two shots that land close don’t mean they’re the same. Half an inch difference on a deer changes everything and if the animal doesn’t drop, it’s biology not a bullet failure.
