When I had to explain shooting sports to non-shooters

My coworker couldn’t understand why I’d spend a whole Saturday shooting paper targets. He compared it to golf, just hitting a little ball toward a hole over and over. That’s when it clicked for me. From the outside, both probably look boring, but when you’re actually doing it, they’re super engaging precision sports. It really made me realize how much context matters.
 
Very few who have never shot realize what an achievement a small, tight group can be with either handgun or long gun. And the older I get, the harder I have to pay attention in order to successfully apply the fundamentals.

It is funny how experience teaches patience, but aging hands demand even more of it.

Yeah that comparison actually helps, once people see it as precision and progress, it usually makes sense.
